The sunny day problem

Glasses or sunglasses. Every sunny day, pick one.

If you wear glasses, the sun makes you choose.

  1. A man on the beach shading his eyes, his sunglasses in his hand
Squinting on the sandDark lenses, still out of focus.
  2. A skier on a snowy summit, her breath in the cold air and her glasses misted white
Glasses fogging under gogglesOr contacts drying out in the wind.
  3. Often $200 for one Rx pairAnd it fits only that one frame.
The fix

One clear lens, inside the pair you already own.

A soft patch in your power sits on the inside of the lens. It holds by itself. Peel it off and move it to the next pair.

  • Fits the pair you own
  • No glue. It holds by itself.
  • Peel, rinse, move it
See the difference

Point anywhere. That is your patch.

Through the patch at -2.50. Move over the picture to look around.

An estimate of how a far scene looks at that lens power, behind sunglasses (pupil about 5.5 mm). A demonstration only.

Soft. It bends, it never breaks.

The fix

Rinse it. Press it. Wear it.

  3. The pair from your side, both patches seated inside the lenses as faint outlines, straight edge up

How the stick works

It holds by itself.

  1. Soft silicone. Holds by itself. No glue. No residue.
    Holds by itself
  2. Dust and lint hide the tack.A rinse washes them off.Tack back. Press it on again.
    Rinse to reset

Keep the lens clean. A clean, smooth lens holds best; a scratched or textured one holds less.

Worried it will not fit?

If it has 45 by 26 mm of smooth lens, it fits.

Point at a pair. The patch goes on the inside, over the pupil, straight edge up. Two identical lenses per pack.

Questions

Every worry, answered.

Fit

What if it does not fit my sunglasses?

It fits if the inside of the lens has about 45 by 26 mm of smooth surface. Flat and mildly curved lenses are easiest; ski and swim goggles fit well; deep sport wraps can crease, so try one pack first and use the flattest part over your line of sight.

Will people notice it?

Not on dark tints, in normal use: the patch is clear and sits behind the tint, with at most an extremely faint hairline for a careful eye. On light, clear or mirrored lenses the edge can catch the light at some angles.

I have astigmatism. Will it work?

Not the astigmatism part, and we would rather tell you now. unblur carries the sphere (SPH) power only; it does not correct astigmatism (CYL). Ask your optometrist whether sphere only suits your prescription.

Wear and care

What if it stops sticking?

Rinse to reset: water washes off the dust and lint that hide the tack, then press it on again. It holds by itself, no glue, and it is reusable: peel it off, rinse it, put it back or move it to the next pair. Taking it on and off often is what wears the tack, so keep a spare. We do not print a number of uses until we have tested it.

Will it survive the pool or the sea?

Yes, inside swim goggles and snorkel masks: dry the inside first, then a little water. Rinse off salt and chlorine the same day.

What if it gets dirty?

It washes clean: cool water and a drop of plain dish soap, fingertips only, rinse well and air dry. No alcohol, lens spray, acetone or hot water: they haze silicone.
