Black sunglasses from the front
How it works

Wet it. Press it. Wear it.

A clear lens in your power sits on the inside of your sunglasses, over the pupil. Water is the bond.

How it works

Three steps, about a breath each.

  1. A clear patch with drops of water on it01
Wet it A little water on the inside of a clean lens, let it go tacky.
  2. The patch pressed inside a black sunglass lens, straight edge up02
Press it Straight edge up, over the pupil, press from the middle out.
  3. Clear patches stacked, ready for the next pair03
Wear it Peel, rinse and move it to the next pair any time.

Loosens? A drop of water, then press again.

The full ritual
Invisible from the front

Look closely. That is all there is.

On dark lenses the patch sits behind the tint. From the front, at most an extremely faint hairline for a careful eye.

Reuse

Peel. Rinse. Again.

Lift an edge with a fingernail, rinse in cool water with a drop of plain soap, air dry, and put it back or move it to the next pair. If it loosens, a drop of water and a press.

Proof

Same tint. Same light. Only sharpness changes.

The sharp window is the shape of the patch: a wide D, straight edge up. Same tint, same light, only sharpness changes.

Pick your number. The soft side follows it.

How it works

A soft clear lens in your power sticks to the inside of the eyewear you already own. Water holds it. Two minutes the first time.

Wet it. Press it. Wear it.

  1. Wet it. Wet the inside of the lens, or wet the patch. Applied dry it does not hold. Water is the bond.
  2. Press it. Straight edge on top, curved edge at the bottom, centre of the patch on your pupil. Press from the centre outward so the bubbles leave at the edge. Wipe the excess.
  3. Wear it. If it loosens as it dries, add a drop of water and press again. To move it to another pair, lift an edge.

Where it goes

Inside the lens, in the centre. The straight edge runs across the top, the curved edge sits at the bottom, and the centre of the patch sits on your pupil. Both sides level. Not toward the nose, and not low like a reading segment.

The object

  • A wide D shape, 45 mm wide by 26 mm tall.
  • Clear liquid silicone, under 1 mm thick, under a gram.
  • Flat, so it takes the curve of the lens it sits on.
  • The two lenses in a pair are identical.

Why water

There is no glue. A thin film of water between the patch and the lens holds it in place, which is why it lifts off clean and goes onto the next pair. As the film dries the hold fades. A drop of water and a press brings it back.

Care

  • To remove, lift an edge.
  • To restore the hold, wash in warm soapy water, rinse, air dry.
  • Store it in its case. Never loose in a bag.
  • No alcohol, no lens spray, nothing abrasive.

The honest part

  • Sphere only. Astigmatism (CYL) is not corrected.
  • It covers your line of sight, not the whole lens.
  • The edge is nearly invisible on dark tints. On light or mirrored tints it can show.
  • Deep wraps can crease the patch or lift it at the edge.
  • unblur is a vision accessory. It is not a prescription service, not a medical device and not a substitute for an eye exam.

Questions

Asked before you ask.

Fit

Will it fit my sunglasses?

If the inside of the lens has about 45 by 26 mm of smooth surface, yes. Flat and mildly curved lenses are easiest; ski and swim goggles fit well; deep sport wraps can crease, so try one pack first and use the flattest part over your line of sight.

Can people see it?

On dark tinted sunglasses, no, in normal use: the patch is clear and sits behind the tint, with at most an extremely faint hairline for a careful eye. On light, clear or mirrored lenses the edge can catch the light at some angles.

Does it correct astigmatism?

No. unblur corrects sphere only. With a CYL of 0.75 or less most people find sphere alone is fine for sunglasses; above that, expect softer edges than your own glasses.

Wear and care

How long does it last?

It is reusable: peel it off, rinse it, put it back or move it to the next pair. A thin film of water holds it. If it loosens after a long day in wind or heat, a drop of water and a press brings it back. We do not print a number of uses until we have tested it.

Can I use it in the pool or the sea?

Yes, inside swim goggles and snorkel masks: dry the inside first, then a little water. Rinse off salt and chlorine the same day.

How do I clean it?

Cool water and a drop of plain dish soap, fingertips only, rinse well and air dry. No alcohol, lens spray, acetone or hot water: they haze silicone.
